Diary of a Founder: Behind Bombshell

We’ve named this collection Bombshell for a reason–she’s special, luxurious, and absolutely here for a good time. Bridal minis and wearing multiple looks have been celebrated by brides for decades, but now more than ever, they’re being adopted by more and more brides. And why not? This is your moment—it’s your year to wear really special outfits, from the engagement party and rehearsal dinner to the ceremony, reception, after-party and beyond.

Lingerie pieces and accessories arranged on a dark background with decorative elements.

When it comes to our design process, we always set super clear goals and non-negotiables. Some of our must-haves include quality, authenticity, fit, and function—along with a healthy dose of pushing the boundaries. We are always being brave with new construction methods, new fabrics, and unexpected fabric combinations.

We are pattern-making queens, so fit is everything to us. Growing up, my mother ingrained in me the importance of pattern-making and high-quality laces and embroideries. This has definitely laid the foundation for everything we do here in our Australian studio, where every design is created.

Going back in time to about 3 years ago, our head designer, Rosie, and I started sharing images of bridal minis that were popping up everywhere. We started mood-boarding our dream collection. Over time, we developed new and exciting ways to add drama to a silhouette without sacrificing comfort or function (hello horsehair lining for that perfect “puff” shape and side seam boning for a traditional hoop look). We used textured hand-beaded embroideries, which take weeks to hand sew, and dynamic fabric combinations like champagne glitter, hand beading, and corded lace.

We wanted a visual masterpiece that you could look at, touch, feel, wear, and fall in love with. This is us having fun, creating pieces that feel like art without having to try. Pieces that don’t overpower but instead elevate YOU. This collection speaks to me because it has energy, character, passion, and soul woven into every decision and every finishing touch.

While I love the entire collection, my favourite piece is firstly Babette, which I would style with a two-piece underneath. I would wear Camille with the Chantilly lace skirt and our new lace-trim veil (coming soon!). Sateen speaks in volumes with our new puff sleeve cape (also coming soon), and Ravella steals the show as a mini or with the Chantilly long skirt underneath. I’m obsessed with the new Chantilly lace sleeves—I want to add them to everything! Right now, I’m loving them with our Phoebe and Clo gowns, and the Shimmy sleeves are a game-changer for elevating any simple look.

I hope you all love this collection as much as we loved creating it. It has seriously taken so much time and energy, with a massive commitment to luxury that you WILL dance in! I can't wait to see how you wear it.

WHERE DID YOU SHOOT THE COLLECTION?

We shot the collection at my home here on the Gold Coast, Australia. I have a passion for all things creative, and we recently completed our new dream home. It was a special moment being able to finally capture some Grace content here after visualising it for so long.

TALK ABOUT THE STYLING BEHIND THE CAMPAIGN:

For this campaign, I wanted to balance the beauty of craftsmanship and luxury with playful elements—like bridal cowboy hats—to bring that sense of fun.

To effortlessly elevate these party dresses into bridal looks, we added pieces like the Chantilly Skirt, veil and a bouquet. This combination allows brides to embrace the best of both worlds on their big day—the elegant and the laid-back.

WHAT ARE SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT THE COLLECTION BRIDES MAY NOT KNOW?

The collection began when we found the fabrics—each embroidered lace design, rich with dense and intricate details, became the foundation and inspiration for everything that followed.

The embroidered fabric of the Ravella dress takes approximately 90 days to craft by hand, with skilled artisans meticulously beading and embroidering every detail to achieve the intricate final design.

The internal design of the Ravella and Camille gowns are constructional works of art, including flexi boning and horsehair lining for malleable structure, that die-hard design and dressmaking fans will appreciate.
